Ali Raney

Violinist | Vocalist | Songwriter

Currently performing in the Tony and Grammy Award winning musical “Hamilton” (Toronto production), six time Canadian Country Music Association Fiddle Player of the Year nominee Ali Raney, is an in demand professional violinist and vocalist from Toronto, Canada.

Over the last few years Ali has had the pleasure of touring and performing with a variety of diverse and world class artists including: Terri ClarkBarbra StreisandRonnie Dunn (of Brooks & Dunn) and Jess Moskaluke amongst others. A lover of musical theatre, Ali also enjoys supporting the talents of others from the orchestra pit. Theatre credits include: Hamilton (Mirvish Productions), Dear Evan Hansen (Mirvish Productions), Come From Away (Mirvish Productions), Wizard of Oz (Young People’s Theatre), Grumpy Old Men The Musical (Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre) and Anne of Green Gables (Bathurst Street Theatre).

A songwriter and recording artist, Ali co-fronted her own band, the CCMA and CMAO award winning country duo The Lovelocks from 2012-2018. Their most successful single, “Home Sweet Home” dazzled Canadian country music fans, becoming the #1 selling song by a Canadian country artist during the week of January 25, 2016, and going on to become a Top 40 hit at Canadian Country radio. Co-written by The Lovelocks (Ali Raney and Zoe Sparrow), Gavin Slate and Travis Wood, and produced by Grammy award winning producer Ben Glover, and JUNO award winning producer Mitch Merrett, “Home Sweet Home” also made it to #2 on the top 50 Canadian viral list on Spotify.

Ali grew up in a musical family and was highly influenced by her mother, a music teacher and choir director, and her father, a music teacher and band leader. Ali received formal training in classical, jazz and fiddle styles from a young age, all the while singing in church and school choirs throughout her childhood. An accomplished vocalist, Ali went on to study Music Theatre Performance at the prestigious Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts and she holds an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance from York University. Ali has since picked up the acoustic guitar and mandolin, and plays them regularly alongside her fiddle.

Ali is a member of the Canadian Federation of Musicians (CFM/AFM) and is a D'Addario Bowed artist. Ali holds an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance and has played everywhere from the Air Canada Centre, to the Grand Ole Opry; from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics to the Calgary Stampede, from Boots & Hearts Music Festival to the Bluebird Café, the Ryman Auditorium to Billy Bob’s Texas, from Big Valley Jamboree to the MTS Centre, from the Rogers Centre to the Royal Alexandra Theatre, to the smallest listening rooms and casinos all over North America.
